these capes don't fly
The year is 2008.Mr. Solis, America’s most famed superhero, unexpectedly dies. His tragic death sends shockwaves throughout the country, and alarms start being raised. If their ultimate protector can die so easily, how can the people of America rest easy?
His death is ruled an accident, but the public at large remains skeptical and suspicious. Interest in superheroes and villains drops overnight, and the cat-and-mouse business is at an all-time low. Professional mask-wearers around the world scramble to maintain their livelihood.
Career-villains are hit especially hard by all of this, as the opinion on them sours dramatically. Fingers are pointed at the biggest figures in the industry. Media frenzies and scandals upon scandals. Americans seem to not have the stomach to watch senseless violence on TV anymore. Maybe they’re pretending while the whole moral outrage is going on?Speaking of senseless violence…Salvador Larkspur is on top of the world. He is one of the most respected and well-known figures in the caped world, even winning Villain of the Year in 2006. Charismatic and over-indulgent in bloodshed, Salvador loves his job. While other villains tend to stick to more family-friendly shticks, Salvador relishes in putting depravity on the little screen. People love to love him, and they love to hate him too, despite all the notoriety and infamy he gets, he’s become one of the most recognized (masked) faces in modern America.
Obviously, everything comes crumbling down once the news reach the masses. The fascination people had while watching him commit atrocities in broad daylight has dissipated. It’s a sensitive topic for most now, and they’d rather watch something that soothes the nerves.
Power-hungry Salvador, who dreams of becoming the president, now has his salary cut drastically. He plunges down the ranking board and loses most of his brand deals. He’s forced to sell his gated-community mansion and to resettle in a middle-class suburb. His wife is trying to get him to adjust to a new life, but Salvador is unwilling to give up his cape, no matter the cost.

Valentina considers herself to be a normal teenager. She has been homeschooled and trained to be a villain her entire life.
She lives in the suburbs with her parents, and she never takes off her uniform and mask. She likes to eat worms and doesn't understand why blood gushes out when she rips a finger off.
All she wants in life is to be as cool as her dad, but gullible Valentina doesn't understand how to be evil. At most, she is an annoying brat. She is blissfully unaware of sarcasm and lives in her own world. She is naïve, but still a destructive menace. Easily excitable and very air-headed.
Val's out-going and rambles on for hours if given the chance, but she has never had a friend (her big sister doesn't count). She longs for companionship, but most are driven away by her eccentricities.
Her dads don't really know what to do with her. Salvador is disappointed that she's unable to follow in his footsteps. Frank thinks she's too immature for her age.
present day
Valentina loves her life! She carries her pet bunny everywhere, she gets to play Toontown on the family computer, and her dad takes her to the shooting range daily. Life is simple, and it's all she wants. However, her quinceañera soon awaits her, which, alongside with the late stages of puberty, will make Valentina face feelings she's never dealt with before.
Valentina starts doubting her future for the first time in her life : she learns what the word divorce means, her sister is moving out for college, a cute boy moves in next door, and her mom wants her to enroll into high school.

age | 42 years old |
nationality | Mexican American |
known languages | English, Spanish, Nahuatl, French, German, Romanian, Croatian |
favorite places | hair salon, hardware store |
With seven doctorates underneath his belt, Frank is a brilliant scientist and second-in-command. However, the genius inventor is also tasked with a multitude of menial tasks around the house and evil base. Demure and morose, Frank is as reserved as his husband is exuberant. Appears to be unassuming, but holds a lot of hatred for the world underneath the apathetic veneer.
He is always butting heads with his boss, though they do see eye to eye on a lot of things. More often than not, he just goes along with Salvador's antics, usually just responding with a sarcastic quip.Frank is not an adjusted person by any means of the word, but he is the only one in his family that tries to have a semblance of normalcy in their day-to-day life.
He is the most sensitive one, but he is also not above smarminess. He can subdue his evilness when needed, but that doesn't make him any less passive-aggressive and vindictive.
He's a bit mad at himself for being attached to Salvador. Valentina and Viviana never listen to him. His patience is tested everyday.
present day
Frank enjoys his life and his job, despite how hectic everything can get. However, a lot of frustration has accumulated inside of him. He wants things to work out between him and his husband, but his mind has been wandering off, thinking about separation more often than usual.Like all of the other Larkspurs, Frank is unable to accept change, and neither does he want to. He wants to keep what he has for as long as he can.

addiction | chronic smoker |
favorite way to maim | pulling the still-beating heart out of someone's chest cavity |
Salvador is is a ruthless and violent villain, leading over an army of henchmen with an iron fist. He is built like a bull, and has the temper of one. He is a great commander, but a lousy father and husband.
Constantly upset over something, he seems to enjoy himself only when he's inflicting pain on others, or wrecking havoc. He considers himself to be evil incarnate. Has a sense of humor and likes to be the center of attention.
Salvador has an imposing presence and is adamant he is always right. He is flamboyant and charismatic, but emotionally stunted and insensitive. He claims that he has never cried. He lives in the suburbs with his second-in-command/wife, Frank, and their three children, for whom he has great ambitions. He has a complicated relationship with his partner, but Frank is still the closest person in his life. They are the only people that he feels genuine love for, but he refuses to get too attached. Otherwise he'd be a bad villain.
He struggles with separating his personal life from his profession, and he ends up barking orders to everyone around him, at all times. He only takes his mask off when he's showering or sleeping.
present day
The superhero-villain business has taken a never-seen before dip. Power-hungry Salvador, that dreams of becoming president and conquering the world, is forced to downsize his team and villain base. His marriage is falling apart at the seams, his eldest daughter has lost interest in villainy, while the younger one seems to not understand evilness at all.He doesn't want to admit that his aspirations might be a bit unrealistic, instead choosing to brute-force his way towards his goal. His life is crumbling, but he refuses to see the signs.
